Upcoming additions to Vinorati

Just in case you were wondering what we’ve been up to. It’s true that we have been somewhat distracted lately, not tasting enought wines, and I in particular have been neglecting the Vinorati blog. We have nevertheless been toiling away in the background.Well, ok, mostly Frédéric has been toiling away in the background, but he’s an indefatiguable toiler.

New Languages

Some of you may have noticed that we had quietly added a Spanish version of Vinorati. We did not make a big announcement or widely publicize the release of the Spanish version because our translator is a former classmate of mine who very nicely offered to do the translation but does not have time to do maintenance. If you are fluent in Spanish and interested in doing some regular translating for Vinorati please contact us !

Next up will be Portuguese ! Irlando Lélis, a Portuguese wine lover and business man has been enthusiastically working on our site for the past couple of months to get this latest translation together and will continue to work with us in the future. The Portuguese version of the site is almost complete and we will share more detailed information soon.

FaceBook

Frédéric’s most recent pet project has been to create a Facebook-Vinorati application. Facebook is social networking site (like Myspace and LinkedIn) that allows third parties to write applications that interface with their site. Once the Vinorati application is complete you will be able to keep track of wines that you and your friends are tasting all within their site.  The fact that I suddenly found myself with a Facebook account and even Facebook friends is a sign that he is in the testing (versus development) stage of the project. You all will be the first to know when the application is ready for “prime time”.
